Toombul Start with some Promise
Date of Event Toombul District Cricket Club: Mon Sep 16, 2019 5:51PM

The Toombul Premier Grade and 2nd grade teams are under way in the One-Day competition with the Premier grade boys notching an emphatic win away in Round 1 vs Sunshine Coast defeating the Scorchers by 136 runs. Preston White return to the tricolours hitting 149 off 118 balls (10 x 4s and 9 x 6s) with support from Matthew Renshaw 89 off 77 seeing the boys reach 8-349 off the allocated 50 overs. In reply Sunshine Coast were all out for 213 with Melbourne Renegade leg-spinner Cameron Boyce picking up 3 for 29 off his 10.

A return to “The Yard” for the first home fixture coincided with the first “Faithful” function, Old Boys Day. Unfortunately, the visiting Western Suburbs made inroads into the top order of the bully boys and the afternoon session would see the bulls defending 169.

Unable to defend the total sees the coming match up vs Redlands away as a must win clash in order to stay in the hunt for the season’s first piece of silverware.

All 6 Toombul teams will be in action for the first time in season 2019/20 with 1’s to 5’s facing the Tigers and 6th grade facing their nemesis Valleys (1).
